DESIGNING WITH CHILDREN
Our most cutting-edge work is in the area of outdoor
environments for children, especially children with special
needs such as autism, ADHD, and other developmental delays. We
look for ways to connect people with the environment. Krawczyk
has conducted observational studies within children’s
environments (gardens, playgrounds, parks, museums, and schools)
to determine how the spatial environment contributes to
children’s engagement. She uses her findings, together with
those from children’s environmental research, to create engaging
places for children.
