Streetscape Design and Arboriculture
Trees, especially street trees, matter in urban and suburban
development. Environmental psychologists and transportation
planners agree that street trees slow down traffic and
help to improve the viability of towns.
Throughout her career, Krawczyk has developed ways to help trees
survive and thrive in such situations. As former Landscape
Architect for the City of Savannah, Georgia, she collaborated with
engineers and utility experts to develop innovative strategies regarding
streetscapes, ranging from the preservation of historic trees to the
incorporation of porous paving to allow new street tree planting. Consultancies
for projects in Delaware and Pennsylvania continue today.
